Brave beyond measure, Inna came to the U.S. from her home country of Russia at a young age….alone. A talented dancer and now a wife, she exemplifies grace and beauty in her own unique way, and I was so happy to take these portraits of her. She was an absolute natural in front of the camera! She also managed to trek through the desert on heels, earning respect from all the female hikers….so I’d say that this shoot was a success.
I love to make things, so it makes sense that I often dabble in more than one art form. This year, I’m striving to take a more wholistic approach to my creative shoots in an attempt to create a more fulfilling experience for myself and my viewers. The images below, as an ode to the coming Spring, feature a beaded headpiece that I made for an upcoming project. I am so excited to unveil this new project, and thrilled for all that is to come. For the next project, just think flowers…LOTS of flowers!

Hello there, my readers. I wish you good tidings as a new year starts, for it is fresh with no mistakes in it, ours for the using. Today, I am sharing images of what I saw on my holiday visit to New York City. Out of the millions of eyes that look at those great buildings and lights every day, here is a little of what mine saw. I was blessed to spend the week with one of my dearest and best friends and her classmates, and later with my sister. We ate, we walked, shivered and talked, and altogether it was a fitting way to bid farewell to a rough last year and usher in a new one. Enjoy,

A veil is a beautiful thing, an ode to the old and an ushering in of the new….of marriage. These images seek to evoke the feminine gracefulness embodied in anything from a long, flowing fabric to the unfolding of a few small buds. Take your pick of any, and you still have a veil.
Here, you witness the birth of a journal of sorts, a visual “manifesto” of what it means to create with one’s hands, document those creations, and contemplate their worth. In this case, the worth of the veil and the coverings that I have made. Many a bride has confronted her future beneath a veil or crown of some sort. It is a delicate touch that will never be out of style. It is worth so much to so many.

Young love is unique all on its own, and it is a joy to behold. Plans being made, families joining together. During our session at the Japanese Friendship Garden at the end of the day, the groom could only look at his bride and sigh with satisfaction; they had reached their destination…they were together as husband and wife. And as I always say, it was lovely.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing dear Cindi and her husband…and their sweet little dog. When Cindi and I first started discussing the details of the session, she mentioned that it had been years since they had sat for photos, and these are planned as gifts to their children this Christmas. How lovely of them! Also, 30+ years of marriage looks good on them, don’t you think?
It’s not often a man is brave enough to brave the lens ALONE, but Abe was wearing suspenders and the like. The man is bold, I tell you. He takes his work as a designer seriously, dressing to the tee.
