A Break from the Usual

Hello there, my readers. I wish you good tidings as a new year starts, for it is fresh with no mistakes in it, ours for the using. Today, I am sharing images of what I saw on my holiday visit to New York City. Out of the millions of eyes that look at those great buildings and lights every day, here is a little of what mine saw. I was blessed to spend the week with one of my dearest and best friends and her classmates, and later with my sister. We ate, we walked, shivered and talked, and altogether it was a fitting way to bid farewell to a rough last year and usher in a new one. Enjoy,

Anna

They marry in youth to grow old together

Young love is unique all on its own, and it is a joy to behold. Plans being made, families joining together. During our session at the Japanese Friendship Garden at the end of the day, the groom could only look at his bride and sigh with satisfaction; they had reached their destination…they were together as husband and wife. And as I always say, it was lovely.

Under the trees

I recently had the pleasure of photographing dear Cindi and her husband…and their sweet little dog. When Cindi and I first started discussing the details of the session, she mentioned that it had been years since they had sat for photos, and these are planned as gifts to their children this Christmas. How lovely of them! Also, 30+ years of marriage looks good on them, don’t you think?

Baby Mae

More on this sweet little one soon. I was able to photograph her at the very established age of 4 days old, and she proved herself to be a natural in front of the camera, meaning she slept the whooooooole time.

Wedded bliss is soon to be

Ah, where to start with this post! My sweet former classmate Liz Husu approached me about shooting her engagement celebration before the turn of the year (she’s graduating this spring, too!), and it surely was a day to look forward to. Hosted at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Scottsdale, the details were beautifully planned out and executed. The tables were eye candy, with their simple white theme and glowing candles. The food was to die for! It was, however, the grace of family, friends and God that outshone the event. Liz and Dan are truly the perfect example of young love founded on a foundation of faith in Jesus Christ, and awaiting them is a beautiful life as a married couple. I wish you the best, Liz and Dan, and I look forward to seeing you both grow together in marriage. For the rest of you reading this post, enjoy the photos of this blissful day…it truly was beautiful!

Brotherhood

I find peaceful joy when looking at this picture, and I am reminded of why I take photos. Faces like these express more than words. And that is all I will say on the matter.

Enjoy.

They comfort….

…and they conquer.

This is the brotherhood.

Z Sisters

These girls are dear friends of my own dear friends, the B sisters, whose session I posted just a few days ago. They are professional smilers! This was such a beautiful session in so many ways, from their gorgeous smiles to the abundance of very blond hair. Merry Christmas to you, Z sisters!!

K & L

The Brink girls are longtime friends of mine, so this session was super fun. However, I’m convinced that little girls will smile nicely less and goof around more if you know them really well and happen to be their photographer….lots of coaxing to get Lulu to smile “regularly”. Here they are in fine fashion at their silliest!
